The 2015 Urban forum is A Conference co-sponsored by the University of Chicago Urban Network, the Center for Latin American Studies, and the Franke Institute.

The panel of professionals from social scientists and cultural critics from across the Globe will be discussing how the 2014 World Cup, 2016 Olympic games, historical and contemporary events impact shape urban economies, cultures, landscapes, and forms of governance.

On Friday May 8th the Panel centers on “Spectacular Cities for the Global Stage”

Followed by a reception and a movie screening of “A Place to take Away” “Em Busca de um Lugar Comum”

Saturday May 9th the schedule discussions are “The Social and Racial Politics of Urban Space”, “Spectacles of Violence”, “Culture and the Urban Fabric”,

“Mega-Spectacle and Spatial Inequality”
